Sustainably in Hotels
Across the U.S. sustainable practices are permeating hotels and businesses. The Environmental Protection Agency has set high standards for hotels moving forward. They have created a ranking scale for hotels to strive for.
Many hotels have adopted sustainable practices trying to attain the coveted "GreenLeader Level" title. There are platinum, silver, and gold levels under that title. A select few are GreenLeaders and LEED certified. This means that LEED-certified hotels are a level above GreenLeaders. Hotels that are LEED-certified have attained the "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" title.
According to United States Green Building Council this "is the world's most widely used green building rating system. LEED certification provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings, which offer environmental, social, and governance benefits."
Only a select few have accomplished this level of sustainability. However, hotels across the country have begun adopting sustainable practices.
